About Me

I am an experienced academic, designer, and ceramic artist with over three decades of dedication to the fields of teaching, research, and creative practice in ceramics and fine arts. My journey blends artistry with scholarship, exploring the intersection of aesthetic expression and archaeological heritage.

Currently, I serve as the Head of the Department of Ceramics at the University of the Visual and Performing Arts, Sri Lanka, where I continue to inspire and mentor the next generation of artists. Over the years, I have contributed to academic and industrial growth through curriculum development, creative exhibitions, and international collaborations.

My educational background includes a PhD in Fine Arts, a Master’s and Postgraduate Diploma in Archaeology, and a Bachelor of Fine Arts. I have also received advanced ceramic training in Sri Lanka and Japan, shaping a strong technical and artistic foundation.

Throughout my career, I have been honored with several national and international awards, including the Vishwakarma National Handicrafts Gold Medal and the Presidential Award for Handicrafts, recognizing excellence in ceramic artistry.

My work has been exhibited in Sri Lanka and abroad, including at the Asian Art Biennale (Bangladesh) and various national exhibitions. Each creation reflects my passion for combining cultural tradition, material innovation, and artistic vision.

As both an artist and educator, I continue to explore how clay connects history, culture, and human emotion — celebrating the timeless beauty and resilience of the earth itself.
